There are several different kinds of art heights of addiction and we all handle them differently. It is in our nature to battle something and sometimes it is ourselves. That is what addictions are. It is an inner battle concerning a weakness we may have. All addictions are serious especially for the individual dealing with them.
Now I think you know when someone is joking, but for me personally, I have learned there is truth in what we say. For instance, we know women mostly say they are "addicted to chocolate" while that is often reacted to by laughing and giggles. This is a true statement. Chocolate had caffeine which is a stimulant. Who doesn't like a stimulant when they want to feel better or need to wake up. This is why some of us male or female cannot have chocolate. The same with sweets or other foods.
Which brings me to an important point FOOD. I love food! I have an eating disorder and it is a big issue with me. I love food. Even though I am a raw chef and I make crazy good food it is difficult for me not to gorge myself on my yummies. I am addicted to my food. I have grown up loving food. Comfort foods to be exact!
Not a lot of people know or think that Food addictions are real or a real battle for people. Well I am here to tell you it is. It started when I wanted comfort in my early childhood because of being in special ed classes, parents divorce, lack of friends, disappointment, sister almost being kidnapped, homelessness. These are just a few things that occurred in my choldhood. So yeah food it was an escape from reality because if you don't know food has a chemical sedation and those are the items I loved...meat, breads and pastas and let's not forget sugary sweets.
When I went raw vegan during my husband's cancer healing process, I was able to look at those and see the addictions I had developed through childhood. Oh how I wished that I had done things differently back them, but as I looked at family and friends...it occurred to me they were a slave to it too. They didnt know any better either.
"Knowing is half the battle" as I have been told a dozen or so times. My question is once you know what do you do then? Do you ignore it and hope it gets better or goes away? Well I have found a way that works really well especially when I use it. Which reminds me I need to get in that routine again. This is why I write in here, because it gets me thinking and when we think we start doing.
Anyways we needing to drink half our weight in ounces. So if I weighed 200 pounds then I need to drink DAILY 100 ounces of water. Then on top of that add Slim & Sassy into your routine. Exercise too! Go for a walk. Go to a market, mall or any place where you can stroll and walk. Life is good!
Addictions are hard but not impossible. They can be overcome. It's not going to be done in the snap of your fingers but over time it will be less of a temptation.
In our Modern Essential's book is a whole section concerning addictions. Looked it up! Know it. It's amazing to he things that you will notice and when some one says or does something that triggers you into action. YOU will know how the EOs will be able to help them.
Any part of our lives that follow these forms of addiction are an addiction. This is a way we can start to eliminating addictions that are harmful to our physical and spiritual well-being. Let us all take note of these addictions in our lives and seek out help when needed.
