Are you a penguin or a peacock?

Are you a peacock or a penguin? Let me tell you why I am asking this question. I just finished a short, sweet and profound book called "A peacock in the Land of Penguins" by BJ Gallagher and Warren H. Schmidt.
This book is awesome. I learned I am a peacock that was living in a world of penguins. I am a woman of talent, creativity, and so much more who tried to change for the world around me. I don't need to change I need to be true to myself and allow people to be true to themselves.

We are not responsible for changing people that is their jobs. We can help them developed their talents, creative ideals and strive towards goals they may have.

I want all of us to succeed in whatever goal we mast have. If its building a business, working, raising a family, improving ourselves, or anything else we need to support one another and not demolish each other with put downs, sarcasm, and other hurtful things.

In this book there were several different birds allowed to come to the land of penguins. They were excited to do so and the penguins just kn.we that these select birds had the adaptability to be penguins.

As time went on they had to learn the penguin way: walking, talking and dressing..."It's the penguin way!" As these different birds tried to be penguins, they became more unhappier and unhappier. They were losing themselves and they never quiet fit in.

After a short amount of time the different birds were pushed out by all the penguins saying they were not right for the corporation of penguins. They were exiled by the penguins.

The different birds including the peacock left for a land of opportunity. Here they were nourished, encouraged and left to do what their instincts, creativity, and talents desired for them to do. Here they excelled and were a vital part of the society. They felt wanted, loved, and rewarded for their contribution to their corporation (community).

"The Land of Opportunity is where we live and work when we choose to see with new eyes, live from our hearts, and allow ourselves and others to be what we truly are OURSELVES."

This is how I want to be. This is what I desire for my family, friends and people around the world. We all need to feel as if we age contributing to the world around us to feel the value we have.

We are all valuable! We are all creative! We all have talents developed or underdeveloped. We need to recognize the positive value and goodness in people instead of the negative ones.

Let us be peacocks, hawks, eagles and so on instead of trying to be a penguin that never changes and only wants what they want everyone to be.
